Life Comes At You Fast

Well, I am in the last 2 weeks of my senior year of college and I am FREAKING OUT! I have been a bit of a nutcase these past few weeks (ask my boyfriend, Conor). Whew! I am about to graduate and I am applying for jobs, interviewing (finally) and trying to decide on the next step. I have pretty much been scoping out jobs this entire last semester of school and hadn't gotten a bite yet. Until this week.. I am finally being contacted for interviews! YAY, right? Um, yes and no. There are so many decisions to make, hence the freaking out.

But I have just decided that life comes at you fast and you've just got to roll with the punches. Whatever is meant to be will be. That's my philosophy and I am sticking to it. So bring it on, life.

On a lighter note, here is a picture from RASTA, my last Phi Mu party at Galettes. Bittersweet. Goodbye sorority bills! (Let's just say the 'rents are extremely happy about that!)

Job Interview Tips

I have been doing a little research on the internet and have found a few tips on how to ace the job interview. Here is a list of 6 things to remember and that I found to be of the utmost importance. Please feel free to leave me a comment if you think I have left something out. Thanks!


1. First and foremost, learn about the company or organization you are interviewing with. Nothing says "I don't care and I'm not that smart," as a lack of knowledge about the organization.

2. Always meet the interviewer with a firm handshake. (But not too firm!) This shows the employer that you are a serious individual who wants to be respected. And this statement goes out to my fellow ladies; no one likes a dainty, weak handshake. Not gonna to cut it!

3. Bring extra copies of your resume, cover letter and business cards. In most cases, I have learned from experience, you will meet with two or more employees with the organization.

4. Think about your strengths and weaknesses before the interview. Good or bad. They will ask what they are, I promise!

5. Be ready to tell the person a little about yourself. Tell them about your background, education, experience, what interests you and why you applied for the position.

6. Always, always, always write and mail a thank you letter (on personal stationery) to the employer immediately following the interview. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Make sure with do this within 3 days of the interview. It is so important to thank the person for their time and meeting with you. Be sure to include something that you discussed with them in the interview (this makes the letter more personal and lets them know that you were listening). Also, this may be the very thing that sets you apart from the other candidates!

Spring Has Sprung

A little late sharing but what can I say? SBK10 was a blast! I definitely went out with a BANG, I must say. I went to Destin, FL with some of my closest friends (16 of them to be exact) for the entire week.

I did the typical spring break regimen everyday which consist of sleeping, eating, laying out, going out, sleeping, eating and pretty much being a worthless human being. A waste of perfectly good space was exactly what I wanted to be and I have to say my mission was a complete success.

Now I have been back to school for a few weeks and the next BIG event to look forward to is most definitely graduation. I will graduate from The University of Alabama on May 8th in the Coleman Coliseum at 9 a.m. Whoa!! I can't believe I am almost there. Its such a surreal feeling to know that at exactly this time next year I will be working an 8-5 job, 5 days a week. Yikes. That's a scary and exciting thought all at the same time. (I just can't wait to start paying back those student loans! Yes! *spoken with much sarcasm*)

Currently, I am hot and heavy on the job search..
**Dear Employers, You want to hire me! I will do great work for you and your company needs my expertise! I will graduate from the #1 PR program in the nation. That's a pretty big deal!** =)

Anyways, I'm planning on moving to Birmingham at some point after graduation. Hopefully this summer (that's if I have successfully found work), but if not this summer definitely in the fall. Geeez, the older you get, the quicker time passes by! Weekends used to be as far as I could see but now everything is "next month," "in the Fall," "next year," and "two years from now." Why is that? My parents always told me that "time flies" and I didn't believe them, but now I am a believer.

Also, Happy late Easter! Spring has sprung and I am so excited! Bring on the heat. I'm so tired of cold weather I can hardly stand it.. And I know in just a few short months I will be begging for winter to make its return! Its just a vicious cycle. But my Easter holiday was fantastic. I went home to to visit with family and friends and to enjoy my mother's famous potato salad (the secret is to use "new" potatoes) and baked, honey glazed ham. Oh how I love traditions!
